Hey future climbers! We’re super stoked to send some stellar routes with you all to start off the semester. At climbing frosh we’ll be climbing crags, bounding up boulders and forging friendships. Over the course of the weekend you’ll have the opportunity to try some incredible bouldering and top roping routes at Parc régional Val-David-Val-Morin. Each night we’ll head back to the McGill Outdoors Club house to play games, hang out and enjoy a campfire. Whether you’ve already reached the heights of Taipei 101 or have yet to step foot off the ground, there is a place for you at Climbing Frosh. We can’t wait to meet you all.
Location: MOC house (Prévost), Val-David
Day 1:
Meet at McGil around 7h30 and pack up to leave around 8h. We’ll make our way over to the MOC house, shooting for a 9h arrival. After a little bit of settling in, we’ll spend some time getting to know each other and start with some climbing basics including etiquette and knots. We’ll break for quesadillas and afterwards jump right into bouldering at Val-David. Finally, after a great first day of climbing, we’ll head back to the MOC house, eat spaghetti, and have a fun time playing games and chilling out.
Day 2:
Rise and shine for another day of climbing! We’ll start our day with a hearty breakfast skillet, and then prepare some veggie wraps that we can take with us to the crag. Once we’re all ready, we’ll head over to Val-David once more to do some top rope and bouldering, breaking about halfway through to eat our lunch. After our time at the crag is complete, we’ll go back to the MOC house for a pizza making competition, a campfire (s’mores included), and some time at the nearby river.
Day 3:
Getting ready for our last day, we’ll make some pancakes for breakfast and prepare lunch before going back out one final time to Val-David. We’ll do some more bouldering and top rope, eat lunch, and leave the crag around 16h. Finally, once we get back to McGill, we’ll say our bittersweet goodbyes and head into a great first semester!
